What is a Christian?

Our society and even churches discuss the term "Christian" a lot. Is a Christian a weak, meek and rarely emotional person that looks like Flanders in the Simpsons or is it a right-wing extremist like on some American TV shows? I want to go back to the roots of the word.

Christian, literally means, follower of Christ or little Christ and that is all we are and ought to be. We believe in Him as fully God and fully human, coming to this earth and living on it, going through the same problems most of us encounter but mastering them by fully relying on God. He then went to the cross where he died the most excruciating death, taking our problems and sins upon himself. After three days he came back to life, He was resurrected and showed himself to many of his followers and then went up to heaven to be at the right hand of God. There he is now, alive, helping us, praying for us and encouraging us through the "Holy Spirit" who comes and lives in people that believe in Him and surrender their lives to Him and His will to empower us to live life for Christ here on earth. We are supposed to be following Jesus, doing the things he did and the things he commanded us to do. As a Christian we decide to give up our lives to gain "new life" and can have direct access to God through Jesus. This is the only way to heaven and the only lifestyle which brings true peace and contentment.

If you have any questions regarding this please don't hesitate to contact us or enquire in church.

God bless you
