Welcome to Elmwood Youth Ministries Home page!

In an age where many voices are grabbing for our attention it can be hard for us to be still so that we can know that The LORD is God. (Psl 46:10) The word know when used in the bible often means a lot more than to just know information about something or someone, it actually means so much more…

To know someone in the Bible means to know them in a real, deep, loving, intimate way. Here are a few scriptures that express the truth of the depth of what it really means to know in a biblical sense…

'Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt: "You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.'
Amos 3:2

Obviously God knows about all the families of the earth but here he explains how he knows Israel with that special, deep intimacy and love.

'Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD."'
Gen 4:1

The very act of Adam lying with Eve is called Adam knowing Eve, this again speaking of deep intimacy and love.

'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…'
Jer 1:5

God again expressing to Jeremiah that before he was born God knew him intimately and with a special love.

To know God then biblically is to know Him in a real, intimate, close way. This is the passion that fuels everything we do at Elmwood Youth Ministries. We believe that Jesus through His atoning death has opened the way for us to explore and enjoy the presence of God and we believe that His presence should be known and enjoyed in a real way every day. The bible commands us to seek the face or presence of God always.

'look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.'
Psalm 105:3-5
To seek God means to strive to know Him more. We at Elmwood Youth Ministries want to know Him more. God has promised us in Jeremiah 29:13 that if we seek Him with all our hearts we will find Him and we will truly come to know Him. To seek Him practically means to engage with God primarily through His Word and in prayer.

'Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob.'
Psalm 24:6

Psalm 24 speaks of a generation who seek the Lord's face (His presence).

We exist to encourage a generation to seek God's face because we believe that when we seek Him with all our hearts we will know Him in a real and intimate way. This is LIFE!

'Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.'
John 17:3

God bless, Stephen Auld.
